Trump faces restraints as Dems seize House

Joe Donnelly lost his bid for reelection in IN, and Republican Marsha Blackburn won the open Senate seat in Tennessee, a race that Democrats had hoped would slide into their column. Sen. With three races unresolved early Wednesday, Republicans stood a chance of expanding their majority with wins possible in Florida, Arizona and Montana. Trump waited until late in the night to weigh in on the midterm vote, tweeting a succinct message that overlooked expected Democratic gains in the House, writing: "Tremendous success tonight".
Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey beat Republican challenger Bob Hugin to win a third term.
The Democratic victory, she said, "is about restoring the Constitution's checks and balances to the Trump administration", and a check on Senate Republicans.
The first polls have been closing across the U.S. in one of the most closely watched midterm congressional elections in living memory, which are likely to be seen as a referendum on President Donald Trump's administration.
