Kyrgios must stop umpire chat: Woodbridge

Kyrgios ousted in Shanghai Masters

It affected the Australian heavily as he couldn't get over it - which led to him arguing with the umpire during the changeovers and being cleary frustrated on the court.

The end of the 2018 season hasn't gone to plan for Nick Kyrgios, with the Australian suffering a first round loss at the Shanghai Masters.

It's hard to figure Nick Kyrgios out.

The second set of the match, which American world number 104 Klahn won 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, saw Frenchman Dumusois at one stage tell Kyrgios: "Nick - last point was really borderline".

"We don't really know and I don't think he really knows exactly what his potential is". "But I think, you know, just the way he goes about things, I could take a leaf out of his book".

Kyrgios then smashed an ace and turned to Dumusois to sarcastically ask "was that borderline poor?" and was rebuked. He lost to Matthew Ebden 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

He later cautioned the umpire for his comments towards him.

NASA staff working 24/7 to deal with Hubble space telescope issues
The failed gyroscope has already been showing end-of-life behavior for about a year, NASA said on its website. If Hubble breaks down completely before that date, astronomers will be without a space telescope.

Dumusois' comments, which appeared to suggest a lack of effort, prompted Kyrgios to respond: "I don't care. you have no right to tell me that it's poor".

As Klahn accepted the plaudits from the crowd, Kyrgios left the court using his mobile phone.

Past year he was fined $10,000 and forfeited his first-round loser's cheque following a decision to walk off after losing the first set against Steve Johnson.

Woodbridge felt it was a pity that Kyrgios couldn't skip Shanghai - a compulsory Masters Series event - given it was the third successive year in which the Australian had gone out of the tournament in controversial fashion.

Klahn eventually wrapped up the match in one hour and 17 minutes, winning 4-6 6-4 6-3. He sets up a second-round match against his compatriot Taylor Fritz, defeat beat Robin Haase 6-3 7-6 (3).

Last month, umpire Mohamed Lahyani was suspended from his next two scheduled tournaments after trying to encourage Kyrgios during a match at the US Open.

Now ranked 38th in the world, Kyrgios is in danger of going into next year's Australian Open unseeded, having reached the fourth round this year after winning his first home tournament in Brisbane.
