'Dancing Queen' May says austerity is over - with a 'good' Brexit deal

Jacob Rees Mogg attends a fringe event to discuss Brexit during the Conservative Party annual conference in Birmingham

The Prime Minister said that she would end the austerity that was caused by the financial crisis of ten years ago, promising changes to housing and health care to improve the country.

The highly anticipated moment of this year's Conservative Party Conference had arrived - Theresa May stepped on stage, ready to deliver her speech.

Telling party delegates to "chuck Chequers" (after calling her plans "deranged" last week) Johnson said he wanted to "stop a ridiculous seeping away of our self-belief".

First, the statement contradicts that of the Chancellor Phillip Hammond yesterday [2 October], who said that he would resist the calls of "populists and demagogues" and continue with the austerity programme.

The EU has urged the british government "get back to work" to unblock swiftly churning of the Brexit, hoping that Theresa May now has the authority necessary internally to complete an agreement with the 27.

Appealing to voters tired of belt-tightening, she said: "Because you made sacrifices, there are better days ahead".

"Voting against a Chequers-based deal would be quite a high bar, I am not going to deny that". In and of itself this is a great accomplishment, yet in order for the Tories (or any other government) to keep on building on it, we need to see solid plans and actual policy suggestions that would provide better resilience to the vulnerable newcomers in the labour force.

May appeared intent on stealing Johnson's spotlight, scheduling a flurry of morning interviews at which she unveiled a new immigration policy a day ahead of schedule.

John Paul Stevens Opposes Kavanaugh: Thursday Hearing 'Changed My Mind'
In March, after the Parkland shooting, Stevens wrote a New York Times column calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment. On Thursday, Stevens noted that both senators and commentators said Kavanaugh's defense of his reputation crossed a line.

Then the thing we saw immediately afterwards was that tweet about the Strepsils and the speech and we laughed along with her and she showed that humorous side of her.

After an awkward dance episode during her visit to Kenya in August had made the wrong kind of headlines, May chose to dance up to the podium to the beats of one of the Swedish band's most enduring songs in an attempt to set a lighter tone to her much-anticipated speech. "It is our duty, in this Conservative Party, to make sure he [Mr Corbyn] can never do it to our country". "I think that's in the interests of Ireland, the European Union, and the UK".

May warns she will never accept a deal which infringes on British sovereignty and is calling for a transitional form of common market for goods between the European Union and all of the United Kingdom.

She said that "leaving without a deal - introducing tariffs and costly checks at the border - would be a bad outcome for the United Kingdom and the EU" — though she refused to rule it out.

THERESA May has nicked Jeremy Corbyn's campaign slogan - rejigging it to tell her party she wants "everyone" in Britain.

"Back business. Back them to create jobs and build prosperity. May also name-checked The Bodyguard, admitting she's been too busy with Brexit to watch it: '[Politics is] not always glamorous, I've seen the trailers for the bodyguard and let me tell you, it wasn't like that in my day".

James Forsyth, political editor of the Spectator magazine and a columnist at the Sun newspaper said: "May delivers one of her best speeches, and will send activists home in better heart than they expected this morning". He will set out the overall direction of public spending in this autumn's finance statement, with a review to distribute the funds to departments to follow next year.

He also said that if the country bottled Brexit now, the people will find it hard to forgive. The June 2016 referendum on leaving the European Union exposed deep ideological divisions within the party (and, needless to say, the country as a whole) and May has struggled to unite party members, and her own Cabinet, around her Brexit proposals.
