SpaceX on Thursday announced a new plan to launch a tourist around the Moon using its Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), a massive launch vehicle that is being created to carry people into deep space. The space exploration startup tweeted this morning that it had signed its first passenger up for a trip in the company's BFR rocket. Asked whether he'd be the first passenger, Musk-who's also the chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. -posted an emoji of a Japanese flag. Find out who's flying and why on Monday, September 17'.

SpaceX has always been public about their dream of sending private citizens to space.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter that the trip would make use of a new version of the company's BFR launch vehicle. No one has visited since the last Apollo mission in 1972, said the company.

United States east coast braced for catastrophic hurricane strike
President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency in North and SC , thus facilitating federal aid to those states. Current forecasts call for Florence to be at least a Category 3 storm when it arrives at the Carolinas.

The Falcon Heavy debuted one year after that announcement was made. SpaceX was tight-lipped about the financial terms of the deal and the identity of the individuals.

The names and identities of those two tourists - and how much they meant to pay - were never revealed.

"SpaceX will probably build 30 to 40 rocket cores for 300 missions over five years". Laliberté was the seventh and last space tourist, prior to SpaceX's announcement on Monday.

US President Donald Trump has championed plans to put boots on the Moon again, as NASA works on building a lunar gateway that would serve as a launching point for missions heading even further into deep space, such as asteroids or Mars.
