Olivia Newton-John reveals she's battling cancer for third time

Olivia Newton-John revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time in three decades.

The Grease actress, who turns 70 in just a few days' time, told Channel Seven's Sunday Night that doctors have found a tumour at the base of her spine.

The cancer news emerges on the eve of the release of her memoir Don't Stop Believin', in which she opens up about her latest health crisis.

Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, undergoing a partial mastectomy and reconstruction.

When asked whether she was anxious about the cancer, she defiantly responded: "I believe I will win over it, and that's my goal".

"I love to sing, it's all I know how to do", she told CNN. She added: "I believe I will win over it, that's my goal".

"I'm a very privileged person, and I'm very aware of that", she said on "Sunday Night".

Olivia revealed she was involved in a minor vehicle accident five years ago which led to the discovery of a lump on her back, and whilst she originally thought it was caused by the strain of her seatbelt during the collision, subsequent scans revealed the lump was actually the return of breast cancer. Last year, the singer canceled her tour after she learned that she had "breast cancer that [had] metastasized to the sacrum".

Sir Barry said: "I'm very, very sad to hear about it (the cancer returning) again, what we all thought she had defeated is still there".

It was an incredibly emotional time for the Xanadu singer, whose older sister Rona died from brain cancer months later.

But despite all the hardship, Olivia is keeping a positive mind and believes there are people out there who are far worse off than her. "And the seat belt hit me really hard". "A lot of people see it as a fight, and [however] you choose to see it, that's your prerogative".

The courageous star told Sunday Night that she has undergone radiation therapy, and is also using natural remedies to help cure her. I have an incredible career.

"I'm very lucky that I live in a state where it's legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man".
