While state officials continue their investigation of the 14 cases of Legionnaires' disease in the Ashworth Avenue area of Hampton Beach, Nashua health officials said two cases occurred there in August.

The Health Department is now investigating two cases of Legionnaires' disease in a residential building in the Bronx, officials told PIX11 News on Saturday.

Fraser Health Authority confirmed the "cluster" of cases on Saturday, adding it likely started in Surrey, B.C., a suburb east of Vancouver.

The DHHS says there may be additional test results for samples taken from Sands Resort within the next week.

People who do contract it can be treated with antibiotics.

The disease, a form of pneumonia caused by inhaling mist or small drops of water contaminated with Legionella bacteria, can't be spread through person-to-person contact, or by drinking contaminated water.

The illness, caused by the Legionella bacteria, can lead to pneumonia in people who are at higher risk of getting sick. Symptoms usually appear two to 10 days after significant exposure to Legionella bacteria. It can not be passed from person to person contact and it can not be contracted by drinking or coming into physical contact with water containing the bacteria. People who visited the area more than two weeks ago and have not developed symptoms are not at risk for disease.

The organization is urging anyone in Surrey experiencing fever, fatigue, cough, or shortness of breath to seek medical attention.
