FEMA Chief Brock Long: Florence Performing 'Exactly as Predicted'

Stacks upon stacks of bottled water sit near a runway in Ceiba Puerto Rico

Politico said FEMA directed questions about the probe to the IG's office, which did not respond to the news organization's request for comment.

Long has been using a staff driver from his department to drive him to and from North Carolina in an official vehicle since he first took over as head of FEMA previous year.

Misuse of government resources has come back to haunt past Trump administration officials.

He said he was "100 percent focused" on the Florence, which was barreling toward the Carolina coast.

The investigation involved surveilling Long as he was driven along the more than six-hour commute, according to the Journal.

"I would never intentionally run a program incorrectly", he said.

Long seemed to have confirmed the investigation during a briefing on Thursday, saying that his office will "continue to fully cooperate with any investigation".

US imposed new sanctions against Russian companies
The U.S. said that the companies targeted are also linked to the organizations involved in North's weapons program. It comes as the USA is redoubling efforts to pressure North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons program.

Aussie Schoolgirl Refuses To Stand For National Anthem
Harper Nielsen , 9, was sent to detention for refusing to stand for the Australian national anthem during school. She told ABC Brisbane that the school punished her for expressing her beliefs.

What's more, insiders say there are communications between Long and a FEMA contractor that touch on possible future employment.

Nalepa added that Long was now focused on FEMA's work "preparing for, responding to, and recovering from Hurricane Florence and other active tropical systems".

Long reportedly began having a government driver take him home since he took control of FEMA a year ago. Bottom line is if we made mistakes on the way a program was run then we'll work with the OIG to get those corrected.

"Doing something unethical is not part of my DNA and it's not part of my track record in my whole entire career", said Long, who leads the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The DHS inspector general's office is investigating whether Long misused government cars and staff drivers to travel home to North Carolina on the weekends, according to Politico.

"FEMA fully cooperates with all investigations conducted by the DHS [Office of the Inspector General]", Jessica Nalepa, FEMA director of external affairs, wrote in a statement given to CBS News.

At the beginning of his tenure at FEMA previous year, Long started using a staff driver to get him back home to Hickory, North Carolina, according to Politico.
