Trump Expected to Unveil Supreme Court Nominee Monday Night

President Donald Trump arrives to speak at a rally at the Four Seasons Arena at Montana ExpoPark Thursday

Kavanaugh, 53, is expected to push the Court to the right on issues including business regulation and national security.

"Bob Casey's opposition to President Trump's nominee before he or she has even been named shows he has given up any pretense of being a moderate voice", said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera in an emailed release. Doug Jones, who joined the Senate after besting embattled Republican nominee Roy Moore in a special election previous year, is likely to come under pressure to back Trump's choice. Before that, Kavanaugh served for more than five years in the Bush White House from July 2003 until May 2006. "A judge must interpret the Constitution as written".

Although Trump said during the campaign he would appoint anti-abortion judges who would overturn Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, he said he would not ask candidates about whether they think the ruling should be reversed.

Cornyn spoke shortly after Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said any of Trump's likely nominees poses a threat to the Affordable Care Act and a woman's right to have an abortion. He was in the running previous year for the Supreme Court seat left by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., and Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., said they were invited to Monday night's event at the White House.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised a vote on the nomination before the November midterms, ensuring the outcome will be an issue before voters.

Republicans hold a narrow majority in the Senate, 51 to 49.

Republican Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri told NBC's "Meet The Press" the president should take note of that political reality in his choice. Other Republican presidents haven't been so lucky. Democrats are voicing alarm about what the new justice could mean for charged issues such as abortion rights and gay rights. Time and time again, the party in control of the Senate and White House saw their selections for powerful positions filibustered by their opponents in the minority.

Overall, the momentum has been positive, with numerous major insurers following the broader market's upward momentum. A federal court in MA upheld the same allocation formula in January.

UK PM Theresa May seeks unity amid chaos over Brexit plans
Conservative leading body the 1922 Committee had a meeting to decide the Prime Minister's fate following the resignations. Mrs May said she was "sorry - and a little surprised" by Mr Johnson's move after his apparent support on Friday.

There are three Democrats who voted for Gorsuch - Sens.

As the president deliberated, the conservative Judicial Crisis Network prepared for a seven-figure advertising buy in four states to support the eventual nominee. If Mr. McCain is not able to vote, only one Republican would have to defect to derail the confirmation, assuming the Democrats maintain ideal party discpline. The others are Republican targets for the confirmation vote who come from Trump-won states where they face re-election this fall.

That increases the focus on two Republicans - Sen. Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, to oppose any nominee who threatens Roe v. Wade. Justice Kennedy devoted his career to securing liberty. At the top of that list is abortion. Kennedy provided a decisive vote in 2015 on an important fair housing case. But later that year, he worked for then-Republican nominee George W. Bush in Bush v. Gore, which ended the Florida recount after the 2000 presidential election. But Thomas Hardiman, who was considered for Neil Gorsuch's seat, is also reportedly still in the running. And Hardiman, the first in his family to graduate from college, has the kind of personal story that appeals to many Trump supporters. That view has particular relevance as special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign played any role in a foreign interference plot.

Barrett also clerked for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

The seat, vacated by retiring justice Anthony Kennedy, is expected to be filled in the coming months with Trump set to announce his nominee tonight at 9:00 PM.

In a sign that the White House will try to pressure vulnerable Democrats to support Trump's nominee, both Sens. Jon Kyl of Arizona would guide the nominee through the Senate confirmation process. He works for the Washington-based lobbying firm Covington & Burling. "Any judge on this list is fruit of a corrupt process straight from the D.C. swamp".

Trump is considering four final candidates for the nomination, according to The New York Times.
