Trump disses 'fake news' CNN in joint press conference with May

Trump Attacks CNN, NBC in Joint Press Conference With British Prime Minister

President Trump denied criticizing British Prime Minister Theresa May when taking questions from the press Friday, despite there being easily accessible audio of his scathing interview with British tabloid The Sun.

Although the Sun has been criticized for its journalism in the past, Cooper said, "Trump's explanation that comments in the interview were "fake news" was greeted with derision by British journalists".

Trump: "CNN is fake news".

"I actually told Theresa May how to do [Brexit], but she didn't listen to me", Trump said in the Sun interview, and then mused that May's Conservative Party rival, Boris Johnson, "would be a great prime minister".

Trump also called out NBC.

Matt Dornic, vice president of communications and digital partnerships at CNN, took aim at Roberts's question and his subsequent statement defending his actions.

Roberts, who came under fire after asking Trump a question after the president pointedly rejected ones from CNN's Jim Acosta and MSNBC's Kristin Welker, said descriptions of both networks as "fake news" were "unfair". "I don't take questions from CNN".

President Donald Trump's United Kingdom visit, and just hours after he once again called the investigation a "witch hunt". Trump, meanwhile, has been criticized for being reluctant to speak publicly about Russian interference into the campaign.

Though CNN-bashing is no new thing for Trump, many wondered at the fact that he went out of his way during an worldwide press conference to insinuate that CNN is not a real network, and the fact that other media outlets allowed it to happen.

"No. No. CNN is fake news I don't take questions - I don't take questions from CNN".

The Sun had already published audio recordings of key parts of the interview. "There are some fine journalists who work there and risk their lives to report on stories around the world".

Roberts then began putting his question to the president through the microphone provided to him as the reporter granted a question by the president.

"Lesson for the kids out there: no one should ever try to do the right thing with the expectation it will ever be reciprocated", Tapper wrote. John Roberts of Fox. She is honest as the day is long. "To issue a blanket condemnation of the network as "fake news" is ... unfair".

In a statement, the Sun said it stood by its reporting.

Acosta continued the argument: 'Well, sir, if you're going to call us fake news you should take a question'. "You see, that is such dishonest reporting", Trump said.
