Hearing a 'victory notch in Putin's belt': Federal Bureau of Investigation agent in Russian Federation probe

FBI agent gets applause in contentious hearing after forceful defense of agency

Peter Strzok, a veteran FBI counterintelligence official deeply involved in the Russian Federation investigation of Trump's campaign, insisted he was impartial despite his controversial August 2016 text exchange with ex-FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was then having an affair.

"I don't give a damn what you appreciate, agent Strzok". "As someone who loves this country and cherishes its ideals, it is profoundly painful to watch and even worse to play a part in". They eventually cost Strzok his place on Robert Mueller's investigative team.

The two agents disparaged Trump throughout 2016, describing him as an "idiot" and a "menace". "It taints the entire Mueller witchunt".

Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Thursday criticized Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform and House Judiciary committees, saying she "wouldn't want to be a Republican on that committee" when Rep.

"This investigation is not politically motivated", Strzok said. "It is not a hoax".

Peter Strzok, while involved in the probe into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server in 2016, exchanged text messages with Federal Bureau of Investigation attorney Lisa Page that were critical of Trump. "Page had texted him, "(Trump's) not ever going to become president, right?

After defying a congressional subpoena Wednesday, Page has agreed to meet with congressmen in closed-door sessions Friday and again on Monday.

Plus, he said in an animated riff that drew Democratic applause, both the Clinton and Russian Federation investigations were handled by large teams that "would not tolerate any improper behaviour in me any more than I would tolerate it in them".

Representative Louie Gohmert went so far as to call out Strzok over his affair with Page, while other House Republicans, including Trey Gowdy, Jim Jordan and Bob Goodlatte, chastised him over what they believed was bias toward Trump during the investigations of Hillary Clinton's private email server and the Trump campaign's alleged contacts with Russian Federation during the 2016 campaign.

First, Gowdy slammed Strzok during his opening statement and defined him as a biased, selfish agent out for vengeance.

Nets trade Jeremy Lin to the Hawks
The Brooklyn Nets traded Lin on Thursday night to the Atlanta Hawks , according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski . The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been announced.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, threatened Strzok with contempt, claiming he was under subpoena. Democrats objected to Goodlatte's repeated attempts to get Strzok to answer.

An argument ensued between Goodlatte and Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the committee's ranking member, who contended that Gowdy was putting Strzok in an "impossible position".

"Mr. Chairman, there's no basis for that", protested the top Judiciary Democrat, Rep.

And yet some analysts couldn't help but notice a hint of irony in Republicans' argument that Strzok's personal views must have influenced his official duty, while they simultaneously conduct investigations into politicians they openly support or oppose.

They often interrupted Strzok and one another.

"Not at all", a defiant Strzok said.

"I do not have bias", he continued, adding that he believed he was sacked not because his personal opinions impacted his work, but because the texts gave the "perception" of bias.

Strzok also said he was one of the few people during the 2016 USA election who knew the details of Russian election interference and its possible connections with people in the Trump orbit, and that information could have derailed Trump's election chances.

Strzok acknowledged that while his text message criticism was "blunt", it was not directed at one person or political party and included jabs not only at Trump but also at Clinton and Sen.
