Fans in Moscow devastated after England knocked out by Croatia

Luka Modric Mario Mandzukic

Dalic's men saw off England in extra-time at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, when they bounced back from Kieran Trippier's fifth-minute opener to eventually triumph 2-1.

It was no surprise that Croatia cavorted on the pitch in celebration with fans and family long after beating England in the semi-finals of the World Cup on Wednesday night, but a wiser head might have ushered them quietly to ice bath and bed.

"We were the better team in all aspects of the game", said Dalic.

"Did we expect to be in this position?"

England manager Gareth Southgate admitted that the World Cup third/fourth place playoff is a game no one wants to play in after his team lost 2-1 to Croatia in the semifinals in Russian Federation.

"So, the dressing room and all of the staff is (in) a very hard place at the moment".

According to the official Federation Internationale de Football Association report about TV ratings for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the third-place fixture between Uruguay and Germany was the 14th-most-watched game out of the event (out of 64 total fixtures) in terms of global television viewers, at 245 million (which takes into account both viewers of the live telecast and viewers of replays or tape-delayed telecasts).

"And, yeah, there will in time be a lot of positives to take".

I don't think any of them could have given any more.

The report suggests that the 59-year-old will receive a three-year contract on wages of €6m (£5.3m) per season. De Laurentiis claimed that Chelsea have not yet made an attempt to sign Sarri.

The 29-year-old had served more aces (44) and hit more winners (199) than any other player in the first five rounds. Probably because at the French Open a couple weeks ago I had so much pressure.

He said the boys, ranging in age from 11 to 16, were "incredibly resilient". "I think we can all be proud", Master Sgt. Hospital director Chaiwetch Thanapaisal said: 'There's no need to worry about their physical or mental health .

"It's too easy sometimes to move on quickly".

"But, certainly, I'm hugely proud of what they've done".

"I couldn't have asked them to give any more for me or for the country".

Boarding its last few customers on the early flight to Moscow this morning, British Airways staff got into the spirit of things ahead of the semi-final game.

Gary Lineker waved goodbye to Germany when they were knocked out the World Cup and now Scots are doing the same to England.

"It's impossible to say anything to them to make them feel better at this moment of time", Southgate said. "We will go into this final to win it as we have still not gotten over the [2016] final".

Scenes after the game were, perhaps unsurprisingly, more subdued than after the quarter-final win against Sweden.

"For us, it was an opportunity to do something which only one team in our nation's history has ever done".

While most of us will be plonking ourselves in front of a screen for the big game between England and Croatia tonight, there are a dedicated few that are actually making the trek over to Russian Federation to see the action unfold IRL.
