CVS apologizes after Chicago manager calls cops on black customer over coupon

2 CVS workers lose jobs after cops called on black customer

Camilla Hudson, a black woman, told ABC News that she went into the CVS in the Edgewater Glen neighborhood of Chicago on Friday night. Rather than checking the system like a normal human being, or politely asking Hudson how she got the coupon (it was mailed to her as the replacement for a product), Matson made assumptions and called a second manager over.

The customer, identified as Camilla Hudson, says she initially tried to use the CVS self-checkout, but it lacked a mechanism for taking coupons which is what caused her to ask for manager's assistance. Our Region Director in Chicago contacted her as soon as we were made aware of this incident. The company said the two staffers involved are no longer employed. "We have firm non-discrimination policies in place to help ensure that all customers are treated with respect and dignity". In a statement, CVS said that discriminatory behavior is strictly prohibited. She also posted a photo of the coupon and the address of the store.

She said both employees became agitated, slammed a door in her face, and told her to leave before eventually calling the police twice. "That manager, whose name was not known, told Hudson they couldn't accept the voucher because he'd never seen one like it before and accused her of possibly handwriting it, she said".

Trump an 'American patriot' says Turnbull after Putin meeting

CVS apologized to Hudson and said it doesn't tolerate discrimination against customers. "The tremors began when he called the police for what he said was the second time-which is the 911 call I videotaped". Matson appears to be trembling while holding the phone providing Hudson's description and information to the dispatcher. "No, I'm not African American".

"In this case, it should always start with training and making sure employees anticipate all the various situations", Culp said, adding, "When you're a retailer that's heavily promotion-oriented, then you just need to make sure everyone knows what to do when something like that happens". CVS is actively investigating what happened and we will take any corrective action that is warranted based on the outcome of our investigation. Hudson corrects Matson and says she's "black". Matson reportedly said it looked fraudulent and called the police, while accusing Hudson of harassing him.

According to Fox 29, the manager is involved with local politics and he served as a state delegate for President Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign.
