Bercow jokes that baby in the Commons is better behaved than MPs

Nicola Sturgeon

This is the moment SNP MPs stormed out of the House of Commons partway through PMQs in protest after their Westminster leader was kicked out of the chamber.

Blackford concluded: "I have no options but to ask that this house now sits in private".

Speaking to the BBC immediately after the incident, Mr Blackford said: "Scotland's voice has not been heard, we have had changes to the devolution settlement that were pushed through last night without Scottish MPs voices being heard".

"I think the people of Scotland have to reflect on what has happened here - a Conservative government has stripped powers from the Scottish Parliament and is not prepared to give us the opportunity to debate this".

When Blackford refused to accept this, Bercow repeatedly told him to resume his seat, before calling for the party's Westminster leader to leave.

The SNP MP told the same programme: "He ought to resign and the fact we have seen powers taken from the Scottish Parliament and our elected representatives have not been able to debate this is an utter, utter disgrace".

What had Ian Blackford said?

May replied that the Bill ensured a "significant increase in decision-making powers" for Holyrood and that says 80 new powers will "flow direct to Holyrood".

UN chief concerned about airstrikes in Idlib of Syria
OCHA says military escalation could make Idlib's situation "much more complicated and brutal" than other conflict zones in Syria.

He then demanded a vote on the issue, something which Bercow refused to consent to until PMQs had concluded.

During today's PMQ's, SNP Westminster leader Blackford said Brexit was being used as a "power grab" from the Scottish Parliament and branded last night's debate a "democratic outrage".

He was followed by fellow SNP MPs who stormed out of the Commons to the sound of jeering.

"The people of Scotland will not be disrespected by this parliament", he said.

Opponents said the move was planned well in advance, taking place during prime minister's questions, the highlight of the parliamentary week.

"The Prime Minister gave a commitment that she would treat Scotland as part of a "union of equals". The SNP calls it a "power grab", something the United Kingdom government denies. Proceedings on the EU Withdrawal Bill last night were a democratic outrage and the Scottish Parliament must be respected.

Scottish Secretary David Mundell hit out at the nationalists for "constitutional posturing", saying it was "quite clear that it was never going to be possible to get agreed amendments because quite simply the Scottish Government, the SNP, Nicola Sturgeon have a different view of the constitution from everybody else".
