ISIS 'Beatles' Members Captured by Syrian Kurds

US officials have confirmed that El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Amon Kotey, who grew up in London before traveling to the Middle East to join the Islamic State group, were captured in early January in eastern Syria.

"Their crimes are beyond imagination", she said. The two men are among four members of the IS cell that captured, tortured and beheaded more than two dozen hostages including American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and American aid worker Peter Kassig. And he characterized their capture as "certainly a big deal for America" as well as the families of the people the two men killed.

"What I'm looking for is justice and Guantanamo is a denial of justice", he told The Associated Press on Friday. We were the victims, not them.

Kotey, 34, and Elsheikh, 29, were the last two members of the group to remain at large. The Washington Post said Emwazi, who used the videos to threaten the West and taunt leaders such as President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron, was believed to have travelled to Syria around 2012 and to have later joined IS.

Under powers introduced in 2014, the Home Secretary can revoke citizenship from naturalised Britons - even if they are made stateless as a result - if they are considered to have behaved in a way that is "seriously prejudicial" to British interests - a definition which includes terrorism.

It effectively renders Kotey, who has a Ghanaian father and Greek Cypriot mother, and Elsheikh, who moved to Britain from Sudan as a child, stateless.

The latest arrests were confirmed by USA officials.

The first picture has emerged of a captured British IS fighter - part of a group nicknamed The Beatles - in detention.

The U.S. State Department a year ago imposed sanctions on the two men after declaring they were terrorists.

Taiwan quake : Collection of highly effective aftershocks hit Hualien
They sent the rescue teams scurrying from the building, only for them to return a little later and resume their grim task. Its streets were buckled by the quake, with around 40000 homes left without water and around 1900 without power.

The Times said group's ringleader, ringleader, Mohammed Emwazi, known as "Jihadi John", was killed in an airstrike in 2015 in Syria. Kotey served as a guard for the execution cell.

He grew up in White City, where he worked as a mechanic mending funfair machinery and supported Queen's Park Rangers football team.

The fourth member, Davis, was convicted of being a member of a terrorist organisation and jailed for seven-and-a-half years at a court in Silivri, Turkey, in May 2017.

The American authorities must now decide whether to extradite the two men to the mainland United States to face a criminal trial or place them in military custody, possibly in the notorious Guantanamo Bay camp.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has always been an outspoken supporter of continuing to use the wartime prison at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba and the military commissions held there.

Colonel John Thomas, a spokesman for US Central Command, said US forces had assisted in identifying the militants and were interrogating them.

Syrian Kurdish fighters have bagged the last two ISIS "Beatles", The New York Times reported Thursday.

The Foreign Office said it did not comment on individual cases or ongoing investigations.
